Samford Stars

The Samford Swim Club has produced many great swimmers over the years!  We regularly have swimmers representing the club at Brisbane & Queensland State Championship events. A handful of our swimmers have continued right through to the elite level; representing Australia on the world stage at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games!

Our most decorated swimmers include:

  • Bronte Barratt OAM – a retired member of the Australian Swimming Team, Bronte has graced the world stage of swimming for over a decade.  During that time, Bronte has been a gold, silver & bronze medallist at three Olympic Games (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016) and multiple medallists at three Commonwealth Games (Melbourne 2006, Delhi 2010, and Glasgow in 2014).  She has also represented Australia at 5 World Championships. Bronte grew up in Samford and swam with the club in her junior years until 12. She still holds 31 Club records. The club has proudly continued our association with Bronte throughout the intervening years. Bronte visited the club several times to mingle with the children, sign autographs and provide inspiration.

  • Kyle Richardson – swam for Australia at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, winning two gold medals in relay events. Kyle still holds 15 Samford Swim Club records at the club
